About Xavier Encinas...
Xavier Encinas is a french Art Director living and working in Vancouver, BC. He is also Partner and Design Director of the French Fashion Magazine Under The Influence. He is Founder and Editor of the Typography and Design blog Swisslegacy. Xavier’s work has been published in some of the most prestigious graphic design books and magazine around the world.
What moved you to be a designer?
I decided one day to be a designer because I felt it was something that correspond to my personality. I've always admire creative people in every field. I wanted to part of that. When I discovered the typography I directly felt in love with it. Since then I just can't not live a day without think about designing something.
What motivates you to do what you do?
Give people the tools to helps to say what they have to say.
What inspires your work?
Lines and shape.
What do you love the most about being a creative person?
Be able to do something that comes from your inside.
What do you hate the most about being a creative person?
People that don't (or don't want) to understand what you are doing.
What is the happiest moment of your career so far?
Designing the Grotesque poster I guess, because it was my first personal project.
What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
Always do what you feel it's best for you. Never regret. Go forward.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I am too young to even think about that.
